About Counselling

Being self-aware and having the capability to think and feel emotions with clarity and understanding is part and parcel of being human. However, there is scope for the way we think to become a problem and effect our emotions. The art of talking therapies such as counselling, are used to help people come to terms with many problems they are facing, with the ultimate aim of overcoming them.

Counselling allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment. It is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.

This process encourages you to talk about what's bothering you in order to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking and help you find ways of coping.

I offer a flexible approach to counselling that is tailored to each individual. I also provide a variety of counselling formats including:

Face to Face Counselling - You can make an appointment to see me in person

Online counselling- via Zoom (video conferencing service). This can be more convenient for some people and has proved popular throughout Covid 19. A link to the session is sent via email, all you have to do is download the app and click on the link sent. You would need to be in a private space where you feel comfortable, safe and will not be distured.

Telephone Counselling- This can offer a helpful alternative to face to face counselling for those with mobility or travel difficulties.

What Benefits can be Expected?

People may chose to speak to a counsellor because they feel they cannot speak to their partners/friends or family about such personal issues.
The way counselling can help will depend on the person receiving the treatment. For many, the fact that counselling offers a safe and confidential environment to speak in is all it takes, it allows a person to explore their thoughts with an unbiased party.

Counselling can help you uncover your own insight and understanding of your problems providing you with the tools to help you resolve them. It can help you understand yourself better and the way you think, which ultimately will help to develop a clearer understanding about the difficulties you are facing. It gradually becomes easier to navigate your way through these difficulties so eventually you come out the other side feeling more positive.
